R.I.P. Roger Ebert

rogerebert-736078

We’ve just learned of the death of Roger Ebert, who was a giant in film journalism. He never critiqued with the consensus and always spoke his mind. With Mark Kermode he has probably had the most impact on people who choose to write about film for love, money and most of all the unbridled passion for cinema.

His tweets often filled my timeline and it will feel emptier without him. As someone much funnier than I said “Death is about to get a really shitty review.”

R.I.P. Roger Ebert (18 June 1942 – 4th April 2013)
